Rain wins out again, taking another night at Utica-Rome Speedway this past Sunday May 27

VERNON, NY- Unfortunately a late afternoon mist rolled on to the Utica-Rome Speedway, after the gates had opened and the pits filled up with race cars. 35 Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints were already signed in for action, joined by nearly a full field of DirtTrackDigest.com 358-Modifieds, nearly 30 Broedel Energy Sportsman, and some new faces in the Ted’s Body Shop Pro Stocks and Rookie Sportsman on Broedel Energy and Turn One night. Five of the first six events of the young season have been lost to inclement weather.

“We were really hoping to be able to get one this weekend as the forecast greatly approved 24 hours before the race,” commented track Bill Shea. “We had a great pit and I feel bad about cancelling after getting everyone here but we had everyone intention of racing until the mist moved in.”

With the cancellation, the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will now be added to the Sunday June 17 program. Joining the program with the Sprints will be the DIRTcar Sportsman Series which will pay $1,000 to win plus a full program for the DirtTrackDigest.com 358-Modifeds, Ted’s Body Shop Pro Stocks, and Rookie Sportsman. The night’s action will be presented by Federated Auto Parts and Pioneer Window Manufacturing.
