RAIN AND COLD TEMPERATURES FORCE ANOTHER CANCELLATION THIS SUNDAY AT UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY, KING OF DIRT SERIES RESCHULED FOR JUNE 5

VERNON, NY- For the third straight week, weather has forced Utica-Rome Speedway to cancel all racing action at the speedway.  Scheduled for this Sunday, May 15, was the first ever stops presented by the King of Dirt Sportsman Series and King of Dirt Pro Stock Series plus the Gates-Cole Insurance Modifieds and Broedel Energy Open Sportsman.  Whelen Engineering and Gates-Cole Insurance were to present the night’s activities.

With a forecast that includes a 70 percent chance of rain and a high temperature in the low 40’s with winds up to 35 miles per hour, conditions for the fans and participants would have been miserable.  An early decision to cancel was made to prevent the travelling teams of the King of Dirt Series and unnecessary travel and expenses.

After discussions with the King of Dirt Series promoter Rob Hazer, both the Sportsman and Pro Stock series events schedule for Sunday May 15 have been postponed to Sunday June 5.  They will be joined by the Gates-Cole Insurance Modifieds and Broedel Energy Open Sportsman.

Utica-Rome Speedway is scheduled to resume racing this Sunday May 22 when the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series returns to Utica-Rome Speedway with the running the Victoria 200.  The Modifieds will compete in a 55 lap event that will pay $5,500 to win.  The GO Nuclear Late Model Series will return for the 3rd running of the Gnome Cup.  Gates will open at 3 p.m. with racing starting at 5:30 p.m.  For more information, please log on to www.uticaromespeedway.com or call the speedway office at (315)829-4557.
