UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY - April 17, 2026
MATT JANCZUK TAKES THE OPENING NIGHT WIN AT UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY
VERNON, NY...Utica-Rome Speedway began its 2026 season under the DIRTcar banner, featuring the new weekly Friday night format featuring the 3 Bastards Brewing 358 Modifieds as the headline division, along with the Jackson's Auto Outlet/Taylor's Trailers Crate Sportsman, JB's Line Cleaning & Plumbing Pro Stocks, and the Qualty Forestry Management Limited Sportsman.
The 3 Bastards Brewing 358 Modified feature saw Ronnie Davis III get the early lead, but Matt Janczuk took over on the point on lap 2. Janczuk pulled a 3 second lead on Davis III as the leaders started to catch the back of the filed at the halfway point. Tucker O'Connor maintained the third spot as Dave Marcuccilli broke away from a battle a little further back. While Tim Fuller was making a charge into the top five at lap 20, Peyton Talbot was also on the move as he jumped into the sixth spot. The first caution didn't fly till lap 20 as Cedric Gauvreau spun, erasing the big lead Janczuk had built. Talbot battled with Fuller and Marcuccilli as Janczuk again extended his lead. Fuller and Davis III mixed it up for second with Fuller nabbing the spot on lap 26, with Talbot moving in to challenge Davis III. Kevin Stevens spun on lap 26. Fuller and Janczuk fought it out over the final four laps, but Janczuk withstood the challenge to take the win over Fuller, Talbot, Davis III, and Bobby Hackel IV.
3 Bastards Brewing 358 Modified heats were won by Brandon Loucks, Dave Marcuccilli, Matt Janczuk, and Tucker O'Connor.

In the Jackson's Auto Outlet/Taylor's Trailers Crate Sportsman feature, Shawn Frost took off from the outside of the front row and took the lead, with Matt Guererri slotting into second. As that pair pulled away, Josh Amodio maintained the third spot while Tyler Corcoran was on a charge, moving into the top five at the one third mark. Frost hit traffic at lap 12, allowing Guererri to close in. Guererri took advantage of a Frost miscue on lap 14 to move into the top spot as Corcoran got by David Hackett Jr. for fourth. Frost and Guererri continued to fight through traffic as Corcoran ran down Amodio to battle for third. Jayden Wust's car stopped in turn two on lap 23, and the stage was set for a green-white-checker finish. Corcoran snagged third on the restart as Guererri made it to the checkers first, followed by Frost, Corcoran, Amodio, and Hackett Jr.
Taylor's Trailers Crate Sportsman heats were won by Will Eastman, Tyler Corcoran, Josh Amodio, and Tanner Warner.

The JB's Line Cleaning & Plumbing Pro Stock feature saw a wild battle in the early stages with Shane Playford and AJ Walters duking it out for the top spot, with Ivan Joslin and Luke Horning mixing it up behind them. Walters got the lead on lap 9 as Joslin settled into third. Devon Camengea brought out the Wicked Tees caution flag on lap 12 when he slid off the track while battling with Chris Stalker for the fifth spot. Playford retook the lead on the restart, but another caution flew for Ivan Joslin's spin on the frontstretch. Walters retook the lead on lap 15 and was able to pull a gap on Playford and brought home the opening night win with Playford second. Slater Baker and Chris Stalker used the second half of the race to move to third and fourth with George Cushman rounding out the top five.

JB's Line Cleaning & Plumbing Pro Stock heats were won by George Cushman, Luke Horning, and Pete Stefanski.
In the Quality Forestry Management Limited Sportsman feature, Lance Hill jumped out to a big lead early over James Galarneau and Matt Bukovan. Ayden Goodier and Mason Rogers had Nicholas Jenkins in tow as they tried to run down Cayden Graham, but in that battle, Jenkins and Goodier had slight contact that sent Jenkins spinning on the fronstretch on lap 11. As Hill and Galarneau battled for the lead, Goodier had heavy contact with Brody Janczuk in turn four that also collected Lucas Duncan, bringing another yellow out on lap 13. The restart saw Bukovan and Galarneau battle for second as Hill again pulled away. A yellow on lap 19 ended the race under time limit, handing HIll the win over Galarneau, Bukovan, Rogers, and Graham.
Quality Forestry Management Limited Sportsman heats were won by Sydney Whetherbee, Lance Hill, and Lucas Duncan.

Next weekend is a Friday-Sunday doubleheader at "The Home Of Heroes" with the season's first point race for the regular four divisions on Friday, followed by the International Wire presentation of the DIRTcar Modifieds, the Jim Normoyle Memorial for Pro Stocks, and the Limited Sportsman.
