Thunder on the Thruway Series Invades Utica-Rome Speedway Friday, June 3

VERNON, NY – The thunder returns.

Racing returns to Utica-Rome Speedway, as Recovery Sports Bar & Grill presents Round No. 2 of the F.X. Caprara Car Companies ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ (TOTT) series this Friday night (June 3).

The Sunoco Modifieds chase a $4,000 payday in Round No. 2 of the six-race mini-series between neighboring Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway and Utica-Rome Speedway.

The 2022 ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ series kicked off this past Saturday night (May 28) at Fonda, with defending series champion Stewart Friesen winning the Sunoco Modified opener, his sixth consecutive ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ series triumph.

The Worthington Industries Crate 602 Sportsman and Next Generation Graphix Pro Stocks are also on the docket for the ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ series in 2022.

Little Falls, N.Y.’s Cody Clark won the TOTT opener for the Crate 602 Sportsman and the $1,500 prize to boot. The Crate 602 Sportsman will once again battle for the $1,500 top prize this Friday night.

Schenectady, N.Y.’s Nick Stone was the Pro Stock winner in Round No. 1 of the ‘TOTT.’ The Pro Stocks race for a $1,000 winner’s share on Friday night and every ‘TOTT’ race this season.

Friday nights racing action will carry points for both Utica-Rome Speedway track points and the F.X. Caprara ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ series. Modified, Crate 602 Sportsman and Pro Stock drivers will draw for starting positions for their heat race with top qualifiers going to a redraw for their feature starting positions.

The Modifieds, Crate 602 Sportsman, and Pro Stocks will be joined by the Fastline Performance Limited Sportsman and the Fonda Fair Four Cylinders on the half-mile clay oval on Friday night.

The Senior Services Inc. All-Star Slingshots and D&S Landscaping Junior Slingshots complete the program, racing on the inner oval.

For the June 3 program, all gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are slated to begin at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $15 for Adults and $13 for Seniors (ages 65 and above). Kids 11 and under get in FREE.

Pit Admission is $30 for Utica-Rome Speedway members and $35 for non-members.
