Utica-Rome Season Starts in Less Than a Month with Spring Break Shootout

VERNON, NY – Spring has unofficially sprung, well at least for a few days anyways in Central New York.

The warm weather that is finally hitting Central New York is just what the Utica-Rome Speedway needed as preparations continue for the 2019 season opener scheduled for Sunday, April 14.

The Spring Break Shootout will be a huge kick-off to the season as the DIRTcar big-block Modifieds highlight the racing program as they go for 30-laps while looking to pick-up a $2,500 payday. For many, it will be the first chance to take competitive laps in 2019.

The DirtTrackDigest.com DIRTcar 358-Modifieds will join the big-blocks on the schedule that evening as well as they’ll also have a 30-lap feature of their own worth $1,500 to win. Several drivers will run both main-events looking to score the $4,000 combined payday.

Billy Dunn is the reigning track champion and he indicated at last week’s Syracuse Motorsports Exposition and Trade Show that he’ll be on hand to kick-off the 2019 season. A full field is expected in both divisions as everyone looks to shake the rust off after a long winter.

The Broedel Fuel Group DIRTcar Sportsman will run a 20-lap feature while the Ted’s Body Shop DIRTcar Pro Stocks are also on the card with their own 20-lap nightcap.

Drivers looking for an opportunity to take the track before the season officially gets rolling on April 14 will have that chance on Sunday, April 7 with an open practice. The scheduled go time for practice is 2pm with gates opening at noon. Any and all divisions are welcome to take to the speedway for practice.

Gates open at 3:30pm with the heat races beginning promptly at 6pm for the Spring Break Shootout. Adult general admission for the opener is set at $20 with seniors/military members/students 17-18 just $18 while kids 16 and under are free.

If you can’t make it to the track on a Sunday night you can catch all the action on DirtTrackDigest.tv from each event throughout the 2019 racing season.
