ANOTHER FAST PACED FOUR DIVISION SHOW SCHEDULED FOR THIS SUNDAY AT UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY

VERNON, NY- This Sunday, August 2, Wilber-Duck Chevrolet, Kingwater Chiropractic, and Ber Mor Gas present another fun filled evening of short track racing entertainment. Another round of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing will be contested with the weekly divisions of the Stampede Steakhouse Modifieds, 602 Sportsman, Open Sportsman, and Pro Street Stocks providing the action.

Matt Sheppard picked up his fifth win in point competition, sixth overall, this past Sunday that he hopes will carry him to the $13,000 Utica-Rome Speedway Stampede Steakhouse Modified point title. Pat Ward continues to sit in the runner up spot, just ahead of Larry Wight, Mike Mahaney, and Vic Coffey. Defending champion Stewart Friesen holds onto the sixth spot in the standings ahead of Mike Bowman, Matt Hulsizer, Chris Mackey, and Tim Mayne. Updated NASCAR Whelen All-American Series New York State standings show Sheppard in second overall with Ward fifth, Wight sixth, and Mahaney in eighth. Nationally, Sheppard is ranked 35th out of the 500 ranked.

In the 602 Sportsman, Rocky Warner holds a 19 point edge over Matt Janczuk in the chase for that division’s track title. Rounding out the top five in the super competitive class is AJ Filbeck, Sunday’s winner Cody Clark, and Alan Fink. In the NASCAR Division II national rankings, Janczuk is 16th while Warner is 20th. Filbeck, Clark, and Fink also find themselves in the top 100.

This past Sunday, Claude Hutchings Jr. rallied from a hard crash on the last lap the previous week to win the Open Sportsman main but he still trails Steve Way in the overall standings. Defending champion Jeremy Vunk sits in third ahead of Heath Carney and Jack Miller.

The Pro Street Stock standings show Mike Welch as the point leader over Glenn Forward, Mark Effner, Chris Carr, and AJ Digsby. In the NASCAR Division IV national rankings, Welch has climbed 11th overall while Forward is 17th. Effner, Carr, and Digsby are also ranked in the top 100 as well.

Gates for this fun filled night of family entertainment open at 3:30 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. Adult admission is just $13 with Students, Military, and Seniors at $10. Kids 16 and under are free in the grandstand area.
