THE 2015 UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY AWARDS BANQUET IS SET FOR SATURDAY NOVEMBER 28

VERNON, NY- With the 2015 racing season now complete at the Vernon oval, the focus at the Utica-Rome Speedway now shifts to the annual Awards Banquet which will be held on Saturday, November 28.  Being held at the beautiful Turning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona NY, this event is annually one of the highlights of the season as the attendees celebrate the previous season and look forward to hearing news of the upcoming season.

After completing its second consecutive season under the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series banner, the list of champions that will cross the stage this year will look far different than it has in the past several seasons.  Matt Sheppard ended a five year chokehold on the Stampede Steakhouse Modified championship held by Stewart Friesen to gain his second title with his first one coming back in 2002.  Rocky Warner grabbed the first ever 602 Crate Sportsman title while veteran Open Sportsman driver Steve Way won his first ever title in that division.  In the Pro Street Stock division, Glenn Forward claimed his first ever title.

The doors for the banquet will open at 6 p.m. with the Appalachian Buffet being served at 7 p.m. The awards portion will start shortly after dinner with the post awards entertainment starting directly afterwards.  This year’s entertainment will be provided by Twenty Main, one of the area’s premier Modern Country and Southern Rock cover bands.  Shannon Terrier, who doubles as the anthem singer and tow truck driver on race nights, provides the female vocals for Twenty Main.
