To those who knew him, Steve lived life liked he raced on racetrack and that was at full throttle. Best described as old school, Steve would race everyone hard on the track and then play hard after, sometimes all night. Spending a good portion of his career on a limited budget, Steve would often get more out of his equipment than many thought was possible.

As a racer, his style was wide open with often putting his car where many wouldn't dare and somehow making it work. An occasional crash or mishap would do little to dampen his determination, as it would often would make him try harder. Even in sickness, Steve raced when he felt well enough and found enough strength to pull off a stunning victory at Glen Ridge last fall.
Utica-Rome Speedway has lost another of it's long time competitors  with the passing of Steve Hulsizer, who lost his battle with cancer.
As a person, Steve was larger than life and often the life of the party. Despite this, Steve always had time for everyone and was respected and liked by his peers.

Steve's racing accomplishments at Utica-Rome Speedway include multiple wins in three divisions with a win total of 37 victories, with his final win coming in a Modified on July 24, 2011. Overall, Steve had four Modified wins, 17 Sportsman wins, and 16 Pro Stock victories for a total of 37 wins in all at Utica-Rome Speedway with many more at other speedways.

The Utica-Rome Speedway staff send their condolences to the entire Hulsizer family which includes his extended racing family. RIP Steve, you will be missed...
