IMAGES BY DC TAKES OVER SPEEDWAY PHOTOGRAPHY DUTIES AT
UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY
VERNON, NY- When the 2010 season starts at Utica-Rome Speedway, all the racing action will be captured through the lens of the speedway’s new official photographer Derak Covey of Images by DC. While Utica-Rome Speedway will be his Sunday night home, Covey also shoots the action the action at Albany-Saratoga Speedway and Fonda Speedway.
“I am very excited to part of the Utica-Rome family,” stated Covey after the recent announcement, “and I would like to thank Gene Cole and his staff for the opportunity.” Covey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the job, having grown up around local racing and taking pictures professionally since 1997. “Photography is my full time job as well as my passion.” As a staff photographer for Gater Racing News and Area Auto Racing News, Covey’s work has also appeared in Car and Driver, Speedway Illustrated, Open Wheel Magazine, and Stock Car Racing Magazine.
There will be a new photo booth set up in the grandstand area as well as a booth in the pit area for the competitors. Images by DC will offer photos ranging from wallet size all the way up to 60x40 inches. “Images by DC only uses professional labs and I use the same labs for my racing photos that I use for my wedding prints,” Covey said of his photos. Besides photos, an assortment of other products will be offered including plaques, license plates, driver/hero cards, key chains, and much more. The Utica-Rome Speedway kicks off on Sunday April 18th with a huge show featuring the “Thunder on the Thruway” Series for the Modifieds who will compete in a 50 lap $5,000 to win contest. The Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks will also be in action and points will begin in all divisions.
