Guaranteed starting spot for Victoria 200 on the line this weekend at Fonda Speedway’s Ice Jam VERNON, NY- This Saturday at Ric Lucia’s Fonda Speedwa y, a guaranteed starting spot in Utica-Rome Speedway’s Mother’s Day Special, the Victoria 200, will be up for the grabs. The winner of the 40 lap $4,000 to win Ice Jam on April 11 will receive a starting berth, worth $1,000, in the May 10 special if they don’t qualify through the qualifying events. In mid March at the Selinsgrove Speedway as part of the Ice Breaker II weekend, Danny Johnson grabbed the only other guaranteed starting spot for the Victoria 200 by winning the Saturday portion of the event. Last season, Johnson passed Pat Ward in the final 50 laps of the Victoria 200 and raced away for the $10,000 payday. Ward grabbed a guaranteed starting spot for Utica-Rome Speedway’s season ending event, the New Yorker 200, by winning the Friday night event on Ice Breaker II weekend at Selinsgrove. This season, Fonda and Utica-Rome Speedway joined forces to present a six race high paying Modified series, dubbed the “Thunder on the Thruway Series. Two events at Utica-Rome on June 28 and August 23 and four at Fonda, on June 20, July 18, August 4, and September 27 make up the series.
