UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY RELEASE 2008 358-MODIFIED RULES UPDATES
VERNON, NY- Utica-Rome Speedway, as it prepares for the 2008 season, has released rules updates for the headline 358-Modified division. The rule changes for the 358-Modifieds will put the rules in line with other unsanctioned tracks in the region.
All motors must be 358 cubic inch and the Brodix aluminum, Dart steel, and Bow Tie steel heads are the only heads allowed for the 2008 season with any porting allowed. Titanium valves will be allowed. Short blocks will remain the same as 2007. Any American carburetors permitted, gas only. All cars must weigh 2,400 lbs at the end of each event with no tolerance given. Track scales are official. Traditional DIRT type bodies only, no sail panels unless otherwise noted.
For the fifth consecutive season, the Mirabito Fuel Group and Gates-Cole Associates will be putting up the over $25,000 358-Modified point fund, with $8,000 of that going to the 358-Modified track champion. Stewart Friesen and Willy Decker have each claimed the title twice since the point fund’s inception and both are expected back in 2008.
The Utica-Rome Speedway 2008 season tentatively set for April 20 with the Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and the SUNY Canton Street Stock Open Series plus open practice.
