The scheduled date for the 100-lap, $6,000 to win affair is on Wednesday night June the 25th. The event joins a host of high paying events at the speedway including the Victoria 200, the Night of Legends as well as the New Yorker 200. Speedway officials are excited to offer the drivers of Central New York another high paying event. If one driver can capture the victory in every race they can walk out the speedway with over $30,000 cash.

The last time the Super DIRTcar Series made an appearance at Utica-Rome Speedway was back in 2003 with Brett Hearn holding off Alan Johnson and Vic Coffey to take home the win. It was Hearn’s second series win at Utica-Rome with his other victory coming back in 1986 over Danny Johnson and Charlie Rudolph.

The first ever series date was held on August 17, 1982 with none other than legendary driver and former speedway promoter Jack Johnson capturing the checkers by besting New Jersey star Jimmy Horton and Danny Johnson.  The list of series winners at the tracks also includes legendary drivers Merv Treichler, recently honored Dave Lape, Freddy Brightbill, Kenny Tremont Jr., and Billy Decker. Danny Johnson, with all his numerous top five finishes, eventually tallied a victory on August 24, 2000. All told, nine series events have been held in the over 50 year history of the facility.

Drivers hoping to etch there name in the series record books at the track in June will include multi-time track champion and all-time winner Stewart Friesen. Matt Sheppard, the point runner-up at the track in 2013 and the fourth place finisher in the 2003 event as well as the three-time defending series champion, will look to add to his already impressive resume. Jimmy Phelps, a tour regular, who won this year’s Victoria 200 at Utica-Rome and the Outlaw 200 at the Fulton Speedway will also be looking to add his name to the impressive list series winners at the Vernon oval.  Several other invaders are expected for what is sure to be an impressive field of Modified talent on this night as the best Utica-Rome Speedway has to offer takes on the stars of the Super DIRTcar Series.

Utica-Rome Speedway will be the third point paying event on the 2014 Super DIRTcar Series schedule.

The next event for the track is the season ending awards banquet to be held on November 9, 2013 at the Turning Stone Casino Resort.
This announcement is the first in a series of major news to come out of the speedway throughout the off-season. You can keep up date with news by following @UR_Speedway on Twitter or by joining the Utica-Rome fan page on Facebook.  The speedway office can be contacted by calling (315)829-4557.
