UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY KICKS OFF BUSY MONTH OF JUNE WITH EXCITING FOUR DIVISION SHOW THIS SUNDAY JUNE 7

VERNON, NY-After a week off due rain, Utica-Rome Speedway is ready to kick off the month of June with another night of exciting NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing this Sunday, June 7. Hi-Skor Lanes and Joe’s Jerky will present the night’s action which will feature a full show of Stampede Steakhouse Modifieds, 602 Sportsman, Open Sportsman, and Pro Street Stocks.

A quick look at the point standings in the Stampede Steakhouse Modifieds shows Pat Ward at the head of a very talented field of drivers in his quest for the $13,000 track title. Matt Sheppard sits in the second spot over Larry Wight, Erick Rudolph, and Tim Fuller. The rest of the top 10 show Mike Mahaney, Vic Coffey, Stewart Friesen, Mike Bowman, and Matt Hulsizer filling out those positions. In the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series New York State standings updated last week, Ward was the point leader there as well which could be worth another $12,000. Sheppard was in the runner-up spot there too with Rudolph in fifth, Wight in sixth, Fuller in seventh, and Mahaney in eighth. The win column shows Sheppard the leader there with three wins while Wight, Fuller, Mahaney, and Friesen all have one each.

In the 602 Sportsman, there is a logjam atop the standings with the top three separated by just two points. Matt Janczuk is the current leader with Rocky Warner in second just one marker back while Cody Clark sits in third two points back. AJ Filbeck sits in the fourth spot with Alan Fink rounds out the top five ahead of Connor Cleveland, Glenn Forward, Daryl Nutting, Kyle Kiehn, and Nick Krause. Warner has been victorious three times so far with Filbeck, Cleveland, and Eric Giguere.

Steve Way is the current point leader in the Open Sportsman class, just eight points ahead of Claude Hutchings Jr. Jack Miller, Randy Shantel, and Heath Carney fill out the top five spots. The remainder of the top 10 spots are held by Jeremy Vunk, Mike Richmond, Tom Tophoven, Craig Pope, and Lucas Heintz. Hutchings leads the division with two wins while Way, Shantel, and Vunk each have one victory each.

Mike Welch continues to hold a slim two point lead over Glenn Forward in the popular Pro Street Stock division with Mark Effner, Chris Carr, and AJ Digsby. Bill Mason, Travis Welch, Gus Hollner, Bill Trexler III, and Ed Ostrander round out the top 10 positions. Forward leads the division with three wins while Welch and Effner each have solo wins.
