Super DIRTcar Series and Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Presented by Broedel Fuel Group and Clinton Tractor at Utica-Rome on Sunday, September 1
VERNON, NY – Utica-Rome Speedway looks to close out the summer with a bang on Sunday night, September 1. The Super DIRTcar Series New Yorker 100 is the highlight of the program along with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints as they make their final appearance of the 2019 season. The night’s racing action is sponsored by Broedel Fuel Group and Clinton Tractor.
Joining the big-block Modifieds and Sprint Cars are the Broedel Fuel Group DIRTcar Sportsman, the Ted’s Body Shop DIRTcar Pro Stocks and the Bernie’s Extreme Performance Parts Rookie Sportsman. Racing is slated for 6 p.m.
The New Yorker 100 is paying $7,500 to the winner of the 100-lapper with the favorite coming into the event being the 2019 DirtTrackDigest.com DIRTcar 358-Modified Champion Erick Rudolph. Rudolph won six times at Utica-Rome Speedway, including the big and small-block challenge event in early August. Rudolph beat current Super DIRTcar Series point leader and multi-time former track champion Matt Sheppard. Billy Dunn finished second in the points, he’s another contender to find victory lane on Sunday night.
Other expected entries include the $100,000 Centennial Winner at the Orange County Fair Speedway, Mat Williamson. Gypsum Express teammates Larry Wight, Pat Ward and Billy Decker. Jimmy Phelps, a former SDS winner at Utica, as well. You can add Peter Britten, Mike Mahaney, Ryan Godown, Demetrios Drellos, Billy Whittaker and more as a solid field of big-blocks will all be looking to take home top honors.
Davie Franek has two Sprint Car wins already at Utica-Rome in 2019, including the Cole Cup back in June. Matt Tanner picked up the Memorial Day weekend victory in May. Paulie Colagiovanni will lead the winged warriors this Sunday as he sits atop the overall points for the series. He’s still looking for his first Utica-Rome win. Look for these three drivers to be in attendance as well as series regulars Jason Barney, Chuck Hebing, Shawn Donath and many more.
For the Broedel Fuel Group DIRTcar Sportsman it is their final night of points. Matt Janczuk leads the way in the division with 328 points on the back of four wins. Kyle Inman sits second at 298 points. He’s coming off his first Utica-Rome win in The Wild 100 just last weekend where he earned $2,500 for his efforts. Alan Fink, Chris Mackey and A.J. Filbeck complete the top five in the points.
The Ted’s Body Shop Pro Stock points championship sees Josh Coonradt and Nick Stone are in a close point battle atop the standings heading into the final night of action. Mike Welch sits in third behind them with Shane Henderson and Pete Stefanski right behind him. We’ll know the champion after 20-laps on Sunday night.

Race Day Information
The grandstands admission price for this event is $30 with seniors/military members/students costing $27. Kids 16 and under are $5. Pit prices for the event are $35 for all DIRTcar Members and $40 for non-members. Pit gates will open at 2:30pm while spectator gates open at 3:30pm. Racing starts at 6pm.
