Utica-Rome Speedway falls to weather again, cancelling June 24 program

VERNON, NY- Weather continues to wreak havoc with the 2018 Utica-Rome Speedway race season as speedway management had to make another tough decision to cancel on Sunday June 24. On tap for Community Car Wash and Wilber-Duck Chevrolet night was the King of Dirt Series for the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, and Pro Stocks plus the Rookie Sportsman.

“With the radar filling up to the west of us and heading east,” explained track promoter Bill Shea, “I didn’t want to run into another situation where we get everyone here and then have to send them home again without racing.”

The cancellation sets up a huge show next Sunday to kick off the month of July. The King of Dirt 358-Modified Series and King of Dirt Sportsman Series will join the 2nd annual $1,000 to win, $100 to start Gene Kotary Memorial for the Ted’s Body Shop Pro Stocks, making this the first must see show of July. The Rookie Sportsman are also on the schedule. Adult admission for this action packed show will be just $15.

The King of Dirt Pro Stock Series has been rescheduled for Sunday July 22.
