Victoria Conclusion Moved to Oct 4; Joins 360 Sprint Cars on the Schedule

VERNON, NY – Mother Nature has been more than unkind to the Utica-Rome Speedway in 2016, she’s been downright mean.  The Race of Champions Victoria event for the Modifieds was originally scheduled to go off on May 22.  Qualifying was completed when the rains decided to fall prior the start of the feature event.

A second attempt was made to run the feature as track officials were hoping to pull off a day night double-header on August 14 to coincide with the Night of Legends that was scheduled for that day.  Again, Mother Nature had other ideas as several inches of rain fell on Saturday into Sunday leaving the grounds saturated which resulted in a second cancellation.

After working with the officials at the Race of Champions Series, it was decided that the event will be moved to October 4 to run in conjunction with the 360 Sprint Cars.  On that date drivers in the starting line-up will keep their starting position with more drivers added to the tail of the field via a last chance event on that night.  The make-up 55-lap affair will be the only feature event run that evening for the Modifieds.

The 55-lap feature joins the 360-Sprint Cars that are set to compete in a 25-lap A-Main which pays $3,000 to win.  Last season Stewart Friesen took home the money in the kick-off to Super DIRT Week while Danny Varin won the companion Modified feature.

The Mod-Lites are also on the schedule after competing weekly at the Brewerton Speedway during the 2016 season.

Fans that were in attendance for the original event back in May are asked to bring their ticket stub from that race with them to receive a $9 discount on admission for this night making it just $13.  Any Modified driver and crew members that were in attendance will receive free attendance as long as they have their wristband from the event.

Prices for that night in the grandstands are $22 for adults, $18 for Seniors/Military Members with ID/Students while 16 and under is just $5.  The pit price will be a flat rate of $30 for everyone that wasn’t present in May.  Racing action is set to kick off at 7pm.

The last chance qualifying information will be finalized in a couple days with information being made available on the Utica-Rome Speedway website at www.uticaromespeedway.com.
