MOTHER NATURE STRIKES UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WEEK

VERNON, NY- After three straight weeks of being rained out, it finally looked like Utica-Rome Speedway would get a show in this past Sunday, May 22, when the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series and the Go Nuclear Late Model Series rolled into the Vernon oval.  Qualifying for the Sunoco Race Fuels RoC Victoria 200 and the Go Nuclear Gnome Cup, as well as the G&I Homes of Vernon Pro Stocks, was complete and the Go Nuclear Gnome Cup was on the track with three laps complete when the sky opened up, bringing the rest of the program to a halt.

Track crews had the track just about ready to race ready before a steady rain moved in which ended all hopes of completing the night’s planned racing action.  Officials had no choice but to postpone the remainder of the event.  A date that works for both the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series and the Go Nuclear Late Model Series is being discussed with an announcement coming the near future.  Fans and race teams are to hold on to their tickets and wristbands.  Please visit our website, Facebook, and Twitter for the announcement of when the remainder of the show will be made up.

The G&I Homes of Vernon Pro Stocks feature event will be added to Sunday June 5.  The feature lineup is locked in and no cars will be added.

Next Sunday, May 29, Utica-Rome Speedway will continue their Memorial Day Weekend tradition as the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will make their first visit of the season on Safelite Auto Glass and Broedel Energy Group night.  A full slate of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing is also scheduled for the Gates-Cole Insurance Modifieds, SUNY Canton 602 Sportsman, Broedel Energy Open Sportsman, and G&I Homes of Vernon Pro Stocks.  Gates open at 3 p.m. with racing at 5:30 p.m.  Please log on to www.uticaromespeedway.com for more information.
